Even though my confirmation email arrived weeks ago, there’s nothing more exciting than pulling out of my mailbox the white envelope with the words “STOP — Don’t Toss” on the front. I’m looking forward to presenting the topic “Using Math as a Springboard to Discovering Cultural Identity,” a project we’ve done at our school for the past five years.
It’s a wonderful interdisciplinary unit the boys enjoy, and it’s a great way for them to connect with grandparents and other relatives. We introduce the project during Grandparents and Special Friends Day right before we break for Thanksgiving. It’s amazing to hear the older generations share stories with their grandchildren, and the interactions can be quite powerful.
Stop by my presentation, Friday, Nov. 1, from 11 to 12 in Conference room 2103A, and check out the student samples!
